The desert has been putting on
quite a show. The cactus are blooming as are the wildflowers, trees and shrubs. This period of floral beauty is quickly heading toward an end as the heat trips in to the 90′s more often.

While our Chollas (choy – ahs ) seem very appealing, these are the devil in disguise. The blooming season makes them seem very appealing and perhaps approachable (see photos below), but don’t! I have seen bikers, hikers and gardeners covered with cholla segments which have the nasty habit of attaching themselves to clothing and sticking into the skin of their unwilling hosts. They are doing what comes naturally since this is one way they propagate. They stick to animals and eventually drop off in a new location where they will try to take root.

Plate-A-Tude

We continue our series of personalized (vanity) license plates in Arizona. To maintain individual privacy, we try to show as little information about particular cars as possible as long as we can reveal the license plate.

NOTE – License plate photos may have been archived for quite some time. The years indicated on the registration stickers DO NOT necessarily reflect the current status of any given plate!

We hope you enjoy these PL8 A TUDES!

I always enjoy reading quotes about various subjects. As a matter of fact, I collect quotes. I have amassed three groups of quotes. One set for sharing which are basically adages for life, one set for gardening which I sometimes use in my posts and one set that has humorous or quirky quotes that I generally keep for myself.

The file above, Tips for Life, 2010, offers a group of quotations for life and presents them with pictures of cacti and succulents. I hope you enjoy them!
